This April SgWIS is hosting Dr. Tara Huber for our monthly career talk. She is a professional coach who helps scientifically-trained professionals navigate their careers and lives so that they are aligned with who they are, and experience greater confidence, motivation and success.

Dr Huber grew up loving science and thought she would enjoy being an academic scientist forever.  She trained in the fields of developmental and stem cell biology, enchanted by cell fate decisions. She started her research lab to discover the key processes for hematopoietic stem cell commitment and instead discovered she no longer wanted to do research. She’ll share how she has navigated her career (2 pivots and counting), grown through each phase and charted a new course as a professional coach for scientists.  She’s a believer in being true to yourself, owning your career and enlisting the help of people along the way.

She is a Harvard-trained PhD who brings over 20 years of experience in scientific research and administration including working with postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, most recently at the Genome Institute of Singapore.  Having navigated her own journey of career change and greater personal alignment, she understands the real issues for those trained in the sciences.

We will be hosting a casual networking happy hour afterwards and invite anyone to attend either or both events. Everyone is welcome to attend, no RSVP necessary.
