DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur next speaker for the Women In Science series\
 , is Shawn LIM\, Deputy Director\, Advanced Research at L’Oreal Research
  and Innovation Singapore.\n\nShawn leads a team that undertakes both biol
 ogical and clinical research to explore and develop novel concepts for ski
 n care with the goal of supporting product innovation for the modern Asian
  consumer. Prior to joining L’Oréal\, Shawn completed a postdoctoral fe
 llowship at the Genome Institute of Singapore\, and devised an in vitro\, 
 stem cell model for the earliest developmental stages of the hematopoietic
  system.\n\nShe received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Ho
 pkins University\, under the support of an A*STAR National Science Scholar
 ship. Shawn is a multidisciplinary scientist with patents and publications
  in the fields of biomaterials\, stem cells and developmental biology\, an
 d skin immunology. She was previously awarded the EDB Exxon-Mobil Scholars
 hip for undergraduate studies\, and was named a 2010 Siebel Scholar.\n\n\n
