Our next speaker for the Women In Science series, is Shawn LIM, Deputy Director, Advanced Research at L’Oreal Research and Innovation Singapore.

Shawn leads a team that undertakes both biological and clinical research to explore and develop novel concepts for skin care with the goal of supporting product innovation for the modern Asian consumer. Prior to joining L’Oréal, Shawn completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Genome Institute of Singapore, and devised an in vitro, stem cell model for the earliest developmental stages of the hematopoietic system.

She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, under the support of an A*STAR National Science Scholarship. Shawn is a multidisciplinary scientist with patents and publications in the fields of biomaterials, stem cells and developmental biology, and skin immunology. She was previously awarded the EDB Exxon-Mobil Scholarship for undergraduate studies, and was named a 2010 Siebel Scholar.
